Because clean cut doesn’t cut it anymore

What is it with women liking guys with long hair?

Everywhere on the interwebs, girls are going crazy over hair? How come clean cut can’t be fashionable any more? I know the girls never miss Brookem’s Weekly HOH posts.

Forget being in shape. Forget about how you dress. All that matters is the hair. That’s it.

I get my hair cut the same way every time. Shave it with a 6 on top and a 2 on the sides. Simple. Easy. Clean. When I style it, I use gel and brush through it. It’s funny, I watch my cousins (who are much more metro than myself) and they use “styling wax” and just use their hands to style it. No brush, just fingers. It’s impressive but I’m pretty sure if I wanted to be lazy, I could do the same.

Or maybe I can’t do it? I have never even tried. Matter of fact, I’ve had the same hair style since 7th grade. It suits me. I recognize myself. I’m 26 and my hairline is receeding by the millisecond, I’m just not sure I could pull it off.

So when my Mother suggests that maybe I should grow my hair longer, I hesitate. I could try it but it kind of feels like I’d be selling out on myself. Only not really. But yeah. I won’t.

Is hair that big a deal?

ohh clean cut still cuts it, some girls dont like men with long hair, for example me.

  3. Princess Pointful says:

Long hair on men = blech.
I dunno, I prefer low maintenance men as a general rule. Short, but regularly trimmed and not shaved to the skin is good enough for me!!

  4. Ambles says:

Yes, it totally is that big a deal. For me, at least… if my hair looks like crap, I can pretty much guarentee you that my attitude for the rest of the day will be crap as well. Sounds shallow, I know - but it’s true! Oh well. at least I’m a girl… I guess I have some excuse!

I’m of the no-comb, no styling goo school…

… The more hair you have though, the more hair people like to “correct”, or offer solutions…

Men NEVER do this to women! Think of the ass-whooping ( or booty lock)

  6. Felisa says:

Mmmm… I don’t know. I tend to notice a guy’s smile first. And I personally prefer guys with short hair because guys with pretty, long hair make me think, “Bitch, why are you prettier than me?!”

  7. Paula says:

i’m seriously not a fan of long hair on guys. Really really NOT!

  8. Wee-H says:

I like longish British indie band type hair. As long as its clean and shiny!

  9. Ben says:

    Have good hair.

    Not too long.

    Not too short.

    Make sure it’s style.

    But not too styled.

GIVE THE BOYS A BREAK, LADIES.

as long as it’s not a mullet. or with frosted tips. (side note: YUCK.) or with excessive hair gel. (or any at all if you’re southern.) you should be okay.

because i think guys will agree they care what a woman’s hair looks like.

  11. Renee says:

Yeah, NOT a fan of the long hair…anymore…there was a day - back in the 90’s - that I was.

If it takes you longer than 6.3 minutes to get ready from start to finish - then i’m probably going to find that annoying.

I like short cuts on men, with sometimes a scruffy face - then when they shave the face I’m all - ooh new hansom man!! - its like I get two men in one.

  12. lacochran says:

Grow it for a few months. If you hate it, buzz it off.

  13. brandy says:

    In a word, YES.

Funny that you wrote about this today, b/c my boyfriend just got a hair cut yesterday and I specifically told him that he shouldn’t get it cut too short b/c I like it a littler longer!

We just want something to run our hands through!

    ummmm….. YUP.

you know, like i told you… hair is just kind of my thing. is it everything? no. but like some girls go for a nice pair of eyes, nice smile, nice arms/pecs, etc… it’s the HOH that does it for me. simple enough!

I don’t look for guys with long hair, but when I was married I once asked my hubby to grow it out and he did. And boy did he look amazing with longish hair. It was never too long or crazy, just enough. I think what made it so hot was that it was something different.

You can try growing it out a bit, if you don’t like it or it doesn’t work then you can always cut it. But you won’t know if it suits you unless you try it.

  17. Kathleen says:

I tend to like the sweet, scruffy guys with short and messy hair and beards, so facial hair maintenance is a lot more important to me than the stuff up top. My boyfriend looks equally wonderful when he’s just had a haircut or when he’s badly in need of one, but the beard always stays nice and neat and trimmed, and I definitely appreciate that.

Whatever you do will be fine, honestly. Some women like it long, some like it short and styled, some like it natural and messy. The cool thing about hair is that you can cut it short again if you don’t like how it looks, so there’s no harm in trying something new.

  18. Arielle says:

Ew, who likes long hair on dudes? Blech! Vomit! Gross.

  19. distracted spunk says:

    Well.

    1) Boys with long hair present a more bohemian, laissez-faire type attitude than boys with crisply cut hair. So it seems like they would be more fun to date in general.

    2) Boys with long hair are usually more fun to make out with, because you can run your fingers through their hair and also, you can tug on it when they’re being silly or if you’re feeling playful.

    3) I dig the clean shaven look on some guys. But on others, the scruffy thing just makes me want to tug them into another room.

  20. beatnikchik says:

    short hair is hot too.

    do you.

  21. Greta says:

Your Mom told you that? Your Mom is awesome. Long hair is awesome.

You don’t have to write a jealous post about it, Matt. We still like you too.

  22. Miss Milk says:

Yes. It is that important. Grow it, at least a little. Hair that’s too short looks good on next to no one.
