Just Plain Tired
I’m at the point in life where it seems like there are just not enough hours in the day. The work week is busy, and the weekend is busier. There’s just never enough time to sleep.
I realize this is normal. A lot of people have full-time jobs plus other weekly commitments (in my case full-time grad school) along with relationships, family obligations, a social life, a work-out regime, and whatever else people do during their “free time.” But does it ever seem like we get going so fast that its almost impossible to just stop and breathe?
People’s lives in North America are always so rush rush rush. Why haven’t we learned a lesson from the Spanish who take daily siestas or the Italians who have 3 hour dinners? Why do we feel the constant need to be… moving. Doing something. Always.
I really can’t complain. I chose to go to grad school full-time while working full-time and being in a relationship and trying to hit up the gym every once in awhile. I feel a lot worse for those with schedules like mine… PLUS KIDS. Oh dear God. I can’t even imagine.
Don’t get me wrong, I love kids. And I want to have kids someday. But how do people have time for them? I just don’t know.
So this weekend, besides going out with my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day, I think I need to just spend some time relaxing. I need to catch up on my sleep, stop stressing about homework and my job and chores, and just give myself a little bit of time to do… whatever.
What do you do to relax? I’d love some good suggestions.

Im totally down for siestas. Greatest idea ever.
Me, I work out. Relax in the sauna everyday- even if its just for 10 minutes…it really helps.

Ahhh. I just recently blogged about this myself.
This past weekend I did absolutely NOTHING according to schedule and it was fabulous. My boyfriend and I didn’t get out of bed (ahem) until noon, and even then I lounged around in sweats and was perfectly content about it. I made us lunch, we watched movies on the couch, went and saw some family/friends later on and then came home and took a nice, long, relaxing hot bath together and I’ll tell you what, I slept like a little baby Jesus.

I go for a walk to my local coffee shop, read, take naps, cook, and watch Friends on DVD. Those always help me relax and rest.

Totally feel ya. It’s like, when does it end??
Luckily, since I work some weekends, I can once in a while take a day or two off during the week. It feels so good just to catch up on bills, Target runs, laundry, toenail maintenance, etc. Sad, isn’t it?

I hear you on this one. I have been trying to turn off the electronic gadgets and read, play with the dog, or write letters to friends.

Hello Umm…Now What? Author,
As a fellow money (miser) saver I have followed your blog for a little while now.
So I have a little offer for you.
The company I work for would ;like to pay you to put a text link to a credit card site on your blog. I have not seen any other deals already. But would love to make you an offer anyhow, I’m sure we can come up with some good terms?!
The website is called creditcardmenu.com and we will be launching a new fantastic looking credit card review and comparison service which is free to our customers; advertising with sites like your should be great for our profile.
So let the bartering begin??!

I so know what you mean! I’m always on the go, and I’m getting sick of it.
To relax, I take a bubble bath. Seriously, a good book and a bubble bath.
I can’t wait to go to Rome this summer because I know the pace will be slower!

I knit. Very relaxing, and productive to boot.

I do the workout every morning, then work, then usually some social obligation…after a few days, I just want to get home, watch tv in my pj’s and maybe read. Every couple of weeks or so I take an “Imerika Day.” I do whatever I want, but only things for ME. Whether it be getting my nails done, shopping for a new outfit, going to the spa, or if i’m broke, renting a couple of DVD’s and ordering Takeout and hitting the pint of ben and jerrys…it helps recharge my batteries and i honestly believe it makes me a better person.
