You know, I’m a little pissed off
You know what makes this even worse?
I actually had this whole other post planned. It was going to be funny and thoughtful and there was a chance it might have ripped your heart out- but in the good way that everyone likes their heart to be ripped out.
Instead.
Instead I received an email tonight from someone letting me know that (once again) a post I have written has been plagiarized.
And can I tell you something? It’s just really fucking annoying. And you know I’m annoyed when I use the F word (just for you Matt, just for you). I guess my issue with it- other than the fact that stealing someone’s EXACT words is still stealing, is that blogging is supposed to be fun. It’s not something you HAVE to do- which makes the stealing even worse. It’s not as though someone steals posts and they can feed the hungry. A stolen post does not heal the sick, does not clean the environment, does not change the world. I don’t know what a stolen post does for the person who steals it, I can’t imagine feeling good about stealing the words someone fought to find, but I do know that it really sucks to see the words you searched for attached to someone else.
It’s sort of like sitting on a patio and seeing a total stranger wear your absolute favourite outfit as she walks by. Not only is she wearing the very clothes that you went out to find, bought and carried home, but as she’s walking through the crowds you hear her collecting all the compliments on her outfit- the one that is yours. That you worked hard for. It’s sort of like that. Multiply that by a few thousand and you get what it feels like.
Anyway. I’ve contacted her and told her she needs to take it down. Who knows if she will though.
Today my glass if half empty. And it’s filled with something gross. Like urine. From a toothless stranger wearing stained clothing and a diaper. Who stole my words and used them as her own.

Ah, that blows.
Why would someone do that? Do they really need to be liked so badly that they will actually pretend to have thought of something that came from someone else? Are they psychotic?
Oh no… I hope they are not psychotic, otherwise they might actually show up to your house with your clothes on and start eating your food and answering your phone. Scary.

Omg, I didn’t even know people did this. Hope she feels bad that she’s such a rubbish person / writer that she can’t even write her own stuff!! I might borrow a topic or 2 or just an idea of something to post about (but full credit is given!!), but seriously, what is the point of stealing someone elses thoughts word for word!? I almost want to see it!! Hope she removed it!!! Hold your head high because you rock!!

It makes my blood boil when they wear your favorite new outfit. Oh and when they steal someones words… I want to be the bitch. Sorry, that’s the lamest.

I remember reading your post the last time someone did this, and my response is still the same: WHY? I do not get it at all. I don’t see the point. I hope she takes it down.

That.
BITCH!

Why would someone do that? It’s ridiculous and I would feel just as pissed off. Hope things work out for ya!

Someone would actually steal another person’s post to blog!?!? Lowest of the low.
April 16th, 2009 at 9:16 am
That would annoy the crap out of me.
(People typically want to distance themselves from my words, not claim them as their own.)
April 16th, 2009 at 9:17 am
Wow. That’s really shitty- I’m sorry to hear that!
April 16th, 2009 at 9:27 am
Oh Brandy!

Why does this always happen to you!?
April 16th, 2009 at 9:27 am
That F bomb just amde my day. Seriously.
But instead of half empty… make it half full. Obviously your a brilliant writer if someone else wants to be you, right?
That didn’t make you feel better??
I’ll send a happy meal your way then.

If she doesn’t, can you please tell us who she is so we can go all mob mentality on her ass?
Because, seriously– yeah, it may be relatively small in the grand scheme of things, but to me, that shows some fundamental lack of empathy and consideration for others– the idea that anyone would ever think that is okay.

UGH what the FUCK. I had this happen to me a month ago, some girl had posted my shit up ALL OVER THE INTERNET and to see my emotions, my life plastered there, getting comments from her friends and her pretending to be me….well it pissed me off then made me cry and then i had a panic attack. ITs so much fun.
Why can’t people just come up with their own stuff? I guess we should be flattered, but imitation is flattery, not downright stealing. i hope it gets taken down and karma comes back to bite her in the ass.

Wow. I can’t believe anyone would have that kind of gall…or even a reason to do that. This isn’t a research paper for school. It’s a blog. No one’s going to give you a bad grade. No one’s even forcing you to write anything. Just write about YOUR life and enjoy it.
Yuck.

Did you contact her privately or in her comments? Cuz I would think accusing her of plagiarism in the comments would alert the few readers she might have that she’s a phony and needs to be ignored.
I’m really sorry this keeps happening to you.

We can be found a admirer of one’s site. Just simply planned to tell you howdy.
